What are Air Curtains?

Air curtains, also known as air doors, are devices that create an invisible barrier of air over the doorway to separate two different environments while allowing a smooth, uninterrupted flow of traffic and an unobstructed view through the opening. They are commonly used in commercial and industrial settings, such as retail stores, warehouses, and restaurants.

How Do They Work?

Air curtains work by using a powerful fan to force air through a narrow outlet, creating a high-velocity air stream. This stream is directed downwards or across the opening. Here are the key components and the process:

  1. Intake: The air curtain draws air from the surrounding environment through an intake grille.
  2. Fan: The air is then accelerated by a high-efficiency fan or blower.
  3. Nozzle: The accelerated air is forced through a nozzle, forming a uniform, high-speed air stream.
  4. Air Stream: This stream forms an air barrier across the doorway. The air barrier can be either heated or unheated, depending on the application.
